  • What are the benefits of asphalt?

Asphalt is a durable material that can withstand years of high-volume traffic. When installed correctly and with the proper maintenance, asphalt driveways last from 25-30 years.

Driveways last longer if they are sealcoated every 3-5 years. Compared to concrete, asphalt is more cost-efficient and less costly to repair. Asphalt can be resurfaced easily, as long as the foundation is in good condition.

  • When should I replace my asphalt driveway?

Driveways can only be replaced in dry weather with temperatures above 50 degrees. The hot-mix asphalt we use must remain hot upon arrival, or it won't compact or provide optimal performance.

  • How long does it take to pave a new driveway?

The answer depends on the condition of the base, weather conditions, and your schedule. Depending on size, residential driveways can typically be completed in one day or less.

  • How long do asphalt driveways last?

On average, the lifespan of an asphalt driveway is 25-30 years with the proper maintenance. Factors that affect age include:

    • Weather
    • Drainage
    • Usage
  • How long after paving can I drive and park on my new driveway?

Avoid foot and vehicle traffic for 24-48 hours.

  • How do I maintain my asphalt driveway?

At Boston Choice Driveways, we recommend sealcoating your driveway every 3-5 years to protect against harm from UV rays, precipitation, and auto fluids.

Small cracks and potholes should be addressed right away to prevent worsening or infiltrating the foundation with water. Alligator cracking is typically a sign that the driveway is beyond repair.
